***SUMMER PRODUCTION***

Summer 2012

THE FEMALE ODD COUPLE by Neil Simon

Directed by Carolyn Chinn

Production Dates: 28, 29, 30 June 2012

Neil Simon’s updated version of his hit comedy, “The Odd Couple”. The gender roles are switched in this witty tale of two friends trying to live together without killing each other. Olive Madison, a recently divorced television news producer and self-confessed slob, offers a spare bedroom to her old friend, Florence Unger, a neurotic, neat freak who has recently separated from her husband with hilarious results.

This production is now fully cast and in rehearsal!

ACTRESSES REQUIRED FOR THE DONAHUE SISTERS!

Three sharp-tongued Southern Irish sisters with a very dark secret between them, reunited in the loft playroom of their childhood: a promising premise for a piece of thoughtful, entertaining theatre - A wonderfully paced, witty and acerbic script yields plenty of audience laughter as the siblings, rejoined and high, cast stones at their own and each others' failed lives, loves and cosmetic surgery, resolving itself in a dark and violent ritual which causes repercussions of its own.

Am looking to cast and start rehearsals real quick ie: next week.

Will involve a commitment of 2 nights rehearsal a week up until the performances of 13th and 14th July at the Burgess Hill Theatre Club.

An absolutely awesome play for three talented actresses. Expressions of interest to Steve Thurley 07503 150755 ASAP.

Synopsis

This is a hilarious play that centres round the wedding of Deirdre Ollerenshawe and Mark Greenhalgh. The characters enter the Ollerenshaw household as they prepare for Mark’s stag night which almost ends in disaster following numerous rounds in numerous pubs, as well as an encounter with a stripper, chains, a rubber doll and a policeman. The wedding doesn’t get off to a great start with so many sore heads and chaos descends in true farcical fashion!

Spring Production 2012

Glengarry Glen Ross

Written by David Mamet

Directed by John O'Conner Assisted by Pippa Jones

25th-28th April

Congratulations to everyone involved in the show a great night of theatre.

GGGR revolves around 4 real estate salesmen who have a week to prove they have what it takes to remain working for the company. First prize is a Cadillac. Second prize a set of steak knives and third and fourth get fired. As the play unfolds we see the different tactics used by our four anti-heroes as they struggle against the irreversible tide that is American capitalism, without realising that they are major contributors to that that they rail against so vehemently.

On the one hand the play is a reflection of the dark forces controlling corporate American and at the same time a deeply black comedy that will have you laughing out loud.

Welcome to Karen’s garden. The lawns are immaculate, the paths are clear of leaves, the flowers dead-headed. Her garden may be perfect, but her life is a complicated mess. Her 18 year marriage to Rob has hit a rough patch, her daughter is dating an inappropriate young man and a teenage lodger is eating her out of house and home.

This complex comedy drama is full of secrets, lies, and the usual shock announcements which we have come to expect from author, Cherry Woodhouse, who gave us The Engagement, Style, Women Without Husbands and co-wrote Contemporary Canterbury.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this production verry nearly a sell out show and a great press review in the Mid Sussex Times! Let's see how it does at the Brighton and Hove Drama Awards on the 12 December.
