PRODUCTION: Marriage & Toothbrush (Comedy Sketches) PRODUCTION DATE: July 2007 DIRECTED BY: Sophie Pocknell STAGED: Burgess Hill Theatre SYNOPSIS: 'Marriage' & 'Toothbrush' were based on the improvisational comedy techniques used in Commedia dell'arte, which follow themes of adultery, jealousy, old age and love, etc. Many of the basic plot elements can be traced back to the Roman comedies of Plautus and Terence, some of which were themselves translations of lost Greek comedies of the fourth century BC.
